Lockheed Martin UK Receives Top Supplier Performance Award from NATS for Third Year Running

FARNBOROUGH, UK, 01/25/2010 -- For the third year running, the Lockheed Martin UK IS&GS Civil team has once again received NATS' coveted Supplier Performance Management (SPM) award, recognising the full spectrum of Lockheed Martin's service provision capability.

"The SPM award reflects the tremendous support Lockheed Martin has been providing to NATS over the past year and reinforces the great partnership that exists between NATS and Lockheed Martin" said Chris Odam, NATS Director of Supply Chain, Assets and Facilities Management.

As in previous years, Lockheed Martin achieved a high rating across a number of key areas NATS assessed as part of its SPM programme, which includes input from stakeholders across all of the NATS business. A combination of both quantitative and qualitative criteria were used to measure performance, ranging from partnering behaviours and value for money to technical service provision and strategy alignment. Lockheed Martin's contracts with NATS embrace a wide variety of activities including software development, systems integration and hardware installation and maintenance.
NATS' SPM programme is a formalised process that benchmarks a supplier's performance, leading to continuous improvements in the way a supplier and customer work together in partnership.

Martin Rolfe, director of Lockheed Martin's UK air traffic management programmes, said: "We are justifiably proud of our long and enduring relationship supporting NATS, providing services that ensure they can deliver a safe and cost-effective Air Traffic capability that forms part of the critical national infrastructure of the UK."

The Lockheed Martin team maintains and implements upgrades to the NATS Swanwick Air Traffic Control Centre systems, as well as providing hardware maintenance services to a significant portion of the NATS operational estate.
