Lockheed Martin Employees Earn U. S. President’s Volunteer Service Award

ARCHBALD, PA, 04/22/2010 -- Lockheed Martin presented the prestigious Presidential Volunteer Service Award to 26 Archbald employees who individually logged more than 100 hours of volunteer service last year. The Corporation will recognize these employees' outstanding community efforts during National Volunteer Recognition Week, April 18-24.

The award recipients are among 11,924 Lockheed Martin employees nationwide who collectively logged more than 1.4 million volunteer hours in 2009. In Archbald, a total of 57 employees collectively logged more than 7,600 hours.

The President's Volunteer Service Awards are presented annually to individuals who volunteer 100 or more hours in their communities during the year. Award recipients receive a note of congratulations from President Barack Obama, an official President's Volunteer Service Award pin, a personalized certificate of achievement and a letter from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Lockheed Martin has a legacy of working with community partners to promote a stronger and healthier community. In 2009, employees in Archbald demonstrated their commitment to the community through volunteering for a wide variety of projects including health and human service programs, classroom mentoring and outreach to promote careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, youth sports activities, scouting, and volunteer firefighting and emergency services.

During National Volunteer Recognition Week, the senior leadership team at Lockheed Martin's Archbald Operations will present the awards to qualifying employees. Lockheed Martin employees across the corporation have recorded 7.7 million volunteer hours since 2002.
